UK scientists have invented a material that may allow the invention of an invisibility Cloak, just like the one used by Harry Potter.
The material contains tiny structures that combined together to form a “metamaterial” which can manipulate light to render objects invisible.
Metamaterials work by channeling the flow of light at a fundamental level, controlling light waves in a precise fashion to achieve a particular effect.
Similar materials have been developed before, however, they only worked for light in a part of the spectrum which the human eye cannot see.
This new technology was made possible by the use of nanostructures which have allowed scientists to push the boundaries of manufacturing.
One of the biggest hurdles left for scientists is to allow the material to work when being bent of folded.
The military have expressed an interest in the technology where it would be likely to used extensively in the battle field before being affordable to the average consumer.
